Carol City gets 33-0 shutout win over Southwest

Even with quarterback Stephen "Buckshot" Calvert out, Carol City (6-1) found no problem cruising to a homecoming victory over Southwest (4-2) after a quick turnaround off Saturday's upset of Miami Central.

Freshman quarterback Lorenzo Floyd threw for five touchdowns in the first half (Montray Smith caught two). The Chiefs now prepare for a big District 16-6A showdown with Norland on Oct. 16.

TOP TWO

Floyd: Completed 12 of 17 passes for 197 yards.

Jonas Dorvil: Intercepted two passes and had a 100-yard return for a touchdown on one of them, but it was called back for holding.

THEY SAID IT

"It felt great to step in for my senior and throw five touchdowns."
