After dropping three in a row, Northwestern needed a game like Thursday as the Bulls (2-3, 1-0 in 16-6A) stampeded the Trojans (3-2, 0-2) with the entire second half played under a running clock.
Northwestern recorded two safeties, recovered three fumbles -- two of them for touchdowns -- had one interception, blocked a punt and held HML to nine yards of offense.
Chatarius Atwell: Threw three touchdown passes and completed six of 10 for 113 yards.
Corey Lane: Ran for 118 yards and a touchdown on nine first-half carries.
THEY SAID IT
"[The players] got an opportunity to redeem themselves on how they've been playing, and they played well."
— Northwestern coach Max Edwards
