The Coral Park Rams (1-9, 0-5) avoided a winless season thanks to a 5-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter by Brandon Hernandez in an 18-14 win against the Sunset Knights (2-8, 0-5) at Tropical Park.
“It felt good to get our first win of the season,” running back Marquez Davis said. “We have been trying hard to earn this, and we deserve it.”
Davis led Coral Park with 149 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries. Hernandez had all four Rams receptions and 111 yards. Ludavic Saintvil led Sunset with 146 passing yards, two touchdowns and 58 rushing yards.
All four of Coral Park’s kickoffs were done by Michelle Mendez, who is also a member of the girls’ soccer team. Her best kickoff led to a tackle at the Knights’ 16-yard line.
