American (2-2, 2-1) rode a well-balanced attack to a 27-6 victory against North Miami on Friday. Senior quarterback Steve Hollingsworth threw for four touchdowns in the game. The first one came in the waning seconds of the first quarter, when he connected for 55 yards with DeAndre Conley. After that, the Patriots never looked back on the scoreboard.
North Miami (0-4, 0-2) put up a brave fight as it looked to make it 14-6 in the second quarter, but the Patriots showed some timely defense, picking off Kaywon Hanna twice and sacking him twice.
Steve Hollingsworth: American’s quarterback showed a great deal of poise in the pocket as he threw for 167 yards and four touchdowns.
