Westminster Christian tops Gulliver in shortened game

After a bizarre start with four lightning delays, Westminster Christian (4-1) defeated Gulliver Prep 21-12 with 18.8 seconds left on the clock in the third quarter. Since Gulliver (3-3) didn’t have lights for their field, the game was cut short because of darkness.

Westminster finished the game with 148 total yards and three offensive touchdowns, and Gulliver Prep could muster only 18 total yards. Gulliver’s two touchdowns came from a special-teams play and a fumble recovery turned into a 46-yard touchdown by linebacker Kristopher Trapp. Westminster finished the night with 10 penalties for 120 yards.

Top Two

Cristian Matos: Completed 10 of 15 passes for 86 yards, with two touchdowns through the air and one on the ground for Westminster.

Cedrick Wright: Scored for the Raiders on a 93-yard kick return.

They Said It

“We came out after the four lightning delays and played hard and physical. I would have loved to have finished the game but a win is a win.”
