Miami High gets big games from Rodriguez and Young, roll to easy victory over Ferguson
Marcelo Rodriguez was over 300 yards passing by halftime and Keyshawn "Pie" Young scored three touchdowns as Miami High trounced Ferguson 62-3 on Thursday at Curtis Park.
Rodriguez, who finished 14 of 19 for 317 yards, threw five touchdowns to five different receivers and added a rushing touchdown.
"We have a great group of receivers. They have great hands and they're fast," said Rodriguez, who tossed touchdowns to Young, Desmond Fairell, Murphy Theodore, Watraie Jones and Juan Lasso.
Young took two of his three carries for long touchdowns and finished with 121 yards rushing and 85 yards on four receptions, including one where he tapped his toes inbounds in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown.
The non-district win was the pick-me-up the Stingarees (2-2) needed after losses to Southwest and Columbus with rival Coral Gables coming up.
Ferguson (0-4) has lost its last three games by a combined 150 points.
