Carol City coasts past Hialeah-Miami Lakes 34-7

Steven Calvert passed for 315 yards and three touchdowns in a decisive District 16-6A victory over the Trojans (2-1, 0-1) at Milander Park.

“We came out strong in the first quarter and put points on the board,” said Calvert who was 20 for 32 on the night. “My receivers were getting open and making plays.”

Calvert had passed for 225 yards with 6:43 to play in the second quarter, but ended the half with two consecutive interceptions. Kevaughn Dingle led the receivers of the Chiefs (3-1, 1-0) with 170 yards on four receptions. Dingle's first score came on a deep pass from Calvert covering 85 yards. His second touchdown was on a 25-yard catch.

Hialeah-Miami Lakes was led by Rommeo Brown with 147 rushing yards on 11 carries. Brown scored the Trojans' only touchdown on an 85-yard run.
