Miami High dominates South Miami behind stout defense

The Stingarees (6-3, 3-2 District 14-8A) scored 37 first half points to dominate the host Cobras (3-6, 2-3) in a 50-0 shutout victory Thursday night at Tropical Park.

Quarterback Murphy Theodore scored all three first quarter touchdowns. The scores came on a short run and passes to Juan Lasso and Zahier Turner.

Keyshawn "Pie" Young scored both Miami High second quarter touchdowns on a 28-yard punt return and a short run. The Miami High defense held South Miami to 39 total yards with only 9 rushing yards and two first downs.

While it was an impressive win, last week the Stingarees were eliminated from playoff contention in a 34-2 loss at Columbus.
