Miami Central rebounds from tough loss to shut out Killian, 35-0

A suffocating defensive effort helped Central (1-1) rebound from a tough opening-week loss with a shutout of Killian (0-2) at Southridge Senior High.

The Rockets held the Cougars to just 65 yards of offense and three first downs.

The game was scoreless until the final two minutes of the first half, when Rockets quarterback Jerrod Thomas connected with receiver Darnell Salomon for a 19-yard touchdown pass.

TOP TWO

Christopher Williams: Central defensive back returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown.

James Cook: The Rockets’ freshman led all rushers with 116 yards on 13 carries.

THEY SAID IT

“We expect to play a much cleaner game than what we played [Friday], but a win is a win, and it’s a much better feeling than last week.”
