Varela tops South Miami 38-32 in overtime thriller

Delano Morgan’s fifth touchdown of the game gave the Vipers a victory over the Cobras in a season-opening, overtime thriller Thursday afternoon at Southridge Park.

Overtime was forced on a 19-yard touchdown catch by Pedro Felix on a pass from Jonathan Aburto.

Morgan: Rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries. He also scored on a 85-yard kickoff return to open the second half.

Jamar Thompkins: Led South Miami with 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries.
