South Dade continues dominance of the boys’ state wrestling meet with 21st title
No surprise, South Dade won the state championship again.
South Dade put six wrestlers into the finals matches and won all six on its way to capturing the FHSAA Class 3A IBT wrestling state championship on Saturday at Silver Spurs Arena.
It was the 21st IBT wrestling state title for the program, which has also won eight Duals state titles.
“All six won. It’s just exciting,” South Dade first-year head coach Humberto Reyna said. “I am excited for my kids. They battled. I know when you come here a lot of kids break under pressure, but my kids stepped up.
“I guess we went from unwanted to unstoppable because people were doubting us. They didn’t want us to win. It’s like the Patriots, no one wanted to see us win. But we did. It’s about hard work and believing.”
Winning state championships for South Dade were: Bryan Morales (113), Guillermo Jaramillo (132), Jovani Solis (144), Armand Williams (150), Tyree Graham (165) and Jonathan Moreno (175).
