Braddock boys, Miami Beach girls win GMAC swimming titles
Coming off winning their first state championship, the Braddock’s boys’ swimming and diving team appears to be primed for another run at the title this season.
The Bulldogs picked up another big win this past week when it secured the team title at the GMAC championship at Miami-Dade College’s North campus pool.
Braddock scored 56 points to edge MAST Academy by 12 points to win the title at the meet, which was ended early due to inclement weather in the area.
Miami Beach’s girls secured the girls’ title with 73 points to also finish ahead of runner-up MAST Academy, which finished with 52 points.
For the Hi-Tides, who won the 200 medley relay, Penelope Lopez-Casula led the way by winning the individual titles in the 50 freestyle in 24.34 seconds and the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.37 seconds.
Braddock’s boys also won the 200 medley relay and were led by Nicolas Kokidko, who won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:43.09. MAST Academy’s Jake Kotz-Agramonte picked up wins in both the 50 free and 100 free to lead the Makos.
