Mater Academy football moves to 2-0. See photos from the Lions’ win over Doral

Mater Academy was expected to be one of the more improved teams in South Florida this season after hiring longtime former Booker T. Washington coach Tim “Ice” Harris.

The Lions haven’t disappointed through the first two weeks, improving to 2-0.

A week after beating Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy, Mater had little trouble on the road against Doral, building a 27-0 halftime lead on Thursday night at the Firebirds’ home field. Mater Academy will next host Hialeah Gardens next Friday while Doral takes on Hialeah at Monsignor Pace High.
