Mater Academy shuts out Mourning
In a game resumed from Friday night when officials failed to show up, Mater Academy dominated Alonzo & Tracy Mourning at North Miami Stadium.
Six players scored on designed plays for the Lions (5-2), who opened the game with a safety after falling on a bad snap on a punt in the end zone. Lions quarterback Temothas Herrington passed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 7 of 9 completions.Herrington hit Zack Moss on a 21-yard scoring strike with 2:33 left in the first half, and then found Daniel Doriscar from 7 yards out to end the first half, giving the Lions a 37-0 lead.
Mater’s Tre Fowler returned a kickoff 63 yards for a touchdown. He also spun out of a tackle, went across the grain and scored on a 23-yard touchdown run in the first half. Doriscar scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter.
Mater only ran 23 plays from scrimmage in the rout.
Mourning quarterback Donovan Williams was 4 for 6 for 35 yards passing.
