If Columbus finishes the season ranked No. 1 nationally, it stands to become the first Miami-Dade County boys’ basketball team to win a national championship. The closest is believed to be Miami High’s 1997-98 team, which finished the season ranked No. 2 nationally.

MORAN HONORED

Columbus coach Anthony Moran has been named the 2025 Jersey Mike’s Naismith High School Coach of the Year. Moran, who won his fifth state title overall and guided the Explorers to a 138-32 record over the past six seasons, including a 109-13 record since the Boozers joined the team.
