Miami Immaculata-La Salle High School recently renovated its football field and its athletic facilities.

The Royal Lions are also undergoing a renaissance on the field.

The next step in that process took place on Friday night when La Salle scored another impressive win, crushing Belen Jesuit 34-0 at Tropical Park to remain undefeated.

La Salle (3-0), which has gone 4-6 and 5-5 over the past two seasons after going 10-1 in 2021, has outscored its first three opponents 94-21 and have wins over Miami High and Jackson.

La Salle’s victory was only its second over Belen in the past 38 seasons.

“The guys have been selfless and playing for each other,” said La Salle coach Helder Valle, who is in his sixth season at the school. “The support of the administration, them staying the course has been huge. In Miami-Dade County sometimes you could be one game from chaos, but we’ve had great support. We keep getting a lot of kids into college and doing things the right way.”

The Royal Lions broke ground in February on a new athletic facility/stadium dubbed the Grosso-Parsons Sports Complex.

Valle said it has helped the program greatly and the players in terms of having better means to prepare for games.

La Salle has quickly seen the results and has fortified its roster with playmakers such as junior wide receiver Brandon Kinsey, who scored his fifth touchdown of the season on Friday.

Kinsey (6-1, 190 pounds), who also plays safety and has offers from FAU and Louisville, scored on a 60-yard touchdown catch and run and finished with over 100 yards receiving.

The Royal Lions will face their toughest test yet on Thursday when they take on Miami Booker T. Washington in a District 15-2A contest at 7 p.m. at Traz Powell Stadium. La Salle is hoping to break through to the postseason this year in a district that also includes Ransom Everglades and Miami Springs. La Salle hosts Ransom in its next home game on Sept. 26.
