Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (March 31)

Miami-Dade County’s best continue to shine as we move past spring break and into April.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Dade County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, April 5, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Angel Santiago, Sunset, baseball: Santiago went 3 for 4 with five RBIs including a grand slam and a double in a win over Ferguson. He then followed it up by going 2 for 4 with a double in a win over Miami Springs.

Ignacio Salaverria, Doral Academy, baseball: Salaverria went a combined 6 for 15 with seven RBI, a stolen base and five runs scored to lead the Firebirds to the championship of the 42 Jackie Robinson Challenge.

Kaley Dyer, Westminster Christian, softball: Dyer tossed a two-hitter, striking out five and had two RBI at the plate in a win over Mary Carroll at the Gulf Shores Alabama Shootout.

Daniel Bravo, Braddock, baseball: Bravo threw a one-hitter in a 2-0 win over Deltona to help the Bulldogs win the Florida League Invitational championship. Bravo, an FIU commit, was named the tournament’s top pitcher.

Ryan Ortega, Palmetto, baseball: Ortega went a combined 6 for 10 with two doubles, three RBIs and five runs scored in wins over Deltona, IMG Silver and Coral Springs at the Florida High School Invitational Tournament.
