Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Feb. 11)
Miami-Dade County’s best are stepping up in the clutch as the winter sports playoffs get ready to move closer to the state finals.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Feb. 15, around 10 p.m.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Adam Waich, Scheck Hillel, boys’ soccer: Waich scored four goals and had two assists to lead the Lions to an 8-0 win over Archimedean in the Region 4-2A semifinals.
▪ Reece Randolph, Hialeah Educational, boys’ basketball: Randolph scored 40 points to lead the Bulldogs to a win over Ransom Everglades and eventually a district championship.
▪ Sebastian Pupo, Hialeah Gardens, boys’ basketball: Pupo had a triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Gladiators to the District 15-7A championship. Pupo also had 23 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a semifinal win over West Broward.
▪ Shanaii Gamble, Southridge, girls’ basketball: Gamble had 22 points and 14 rebounds to help the Spartans beat Lourdes for the District 16-6A championship.
▪ Aaliyah Perez, True North, girls’ soccer: Perez scored two goals to lead the Titans to a 2-0 win over Westminster Academy and the District 16-2A title.
