Miami-Dade County’s best athletes keep impressing as the winter sports head into the postseason.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Feb. 1, around 10 p.m.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Cayden Boozer, Columbus, boys’ basketball: Boozer finished with 15 points, six assists, two steals and two rebounds to lead the Explorers to an 81-51 win over Miami High and their third consecutive GMAC title.
▪ Sydney Wilson, Miami High, girls’ basketball: Wilson continued to help the Stingarees during their nine-game winning streak as she scored 15 points and totaled four assists, two steals and a pair of rebounds in a GMAC championship-clinching win over Southridge.
▪ Kaitelynn Oliver, South Dade, girls’ wrestling: Oliver remained unbeaten with a 22-0 record after winning the 125-pound weight class and leading the Bucs to their third consecutive GMAC title.
▪ Sasha Gomez, Miami Beach, girls’ soccer: Gomez scored seven goals during an 11-3 victory over Coral Park in a District 16-6A playoff match.
