The South Dade boys’ wrestling team’s state championship streak is among the longest in the nation regardless of sport.

The Bucs are also continuing to show their girls’ squad is a powerhouse too.

Led by unbeaten junior Kaitelynn Oliver, South Dade cruised to its third consecutive GMAC championship on Saturday at Miami Coral Park High.

The Bucs had five wrestlers win individual championships and scored 169 points to finish ahead of runner-up North Miami for the third consecutive season.

Oliver, who improved to 22-0 on the season, won the 125-pound weight class with three successive pins.

She was joined by Lydia Gonzalez (100 pounds), Rebekkah Kinkade (110), Geraldine Honore (130) and Ta’Jah Broadnex (145), who also won their respective weight classes.

The Pioneers were led once again by undefeated Mya Bethel, who won the 155-pound weight class with ease. Bethel, also unbeaten at 31-0, appears to be on her way to another potential state championship.

North Miami had five individual champions as well. Isis Severe prevailed at 120 pounds while Lesane Heid won at 135, Shenshaila Baron at 170 and Rachelle Rabel at 235.

Two more wrestlers remained undefeated as Coral Park’s Sofia Delgado improved to 22-0 after winning the 140-pound division in her home gym. Miami High’s Cheyenne Stingley improved to 7-0 after winning the 105-pound division.

The boys’ GMAC championship is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at South Dade High. The Bucs are looking for back-to-back titles after snapping a back-to-back run by rival Southwest Miami last season.
