Ransom Everglades secures first ever sweep of regional cross-country titles
Ransom Everglades’ boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams have combined for eight state titles in their history.
But they hadn’t both swept regional titles on the same day until Friday.
The Raiders will go into next week’s Class 2A state championships in Tallahassee with some momentum after sweeping the team gold at the Region 4-2A meet at South County Region Park in Boca Raton.
The Raiders scored 70 points to finish ahead of Mater Lakes’ 85 and claim the boys’ crown. David “Chuli” Serra led the way, winning the individual title in 15:26.2.
On the girls’ side, Ransom won the team title with 82 points to finish ahead of Carrollton’s 94 points.
The Cyclones had the individual champion, however, as junior Grace Aldrich won with a time of 18:15.4 to finish ahead of runner-up Sophia Linfield of Ransom (18:49.7).
REGION 4-1A
South Florida HEAT swept the Region 4-1A championships at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton as well.
Palmer Trinity’s Henry Stark won the boys’ individual title with a time of 15:41.0. Also for the Falcons, Daniella Perez-Cartaya won the girls’ individual championship with a time of 19:08.2.
