Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Sept. 24)
Miami-Dade County’s top athletes shined again this week with more stellar performances as the 2023-24 high school sports season completed its third week.
This week, we resume a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 28, around 10 p.m.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Ennio Yapoor, Miami Norland, football: Yapoor threw three touchdown passes and ran for another to lead the Vikings to a 57-12 win over American.
▪ Jonathan Bueno, True North, football: Bueno ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to lead the Titans to a 21-9 win over Naples First Baptist.
▪ Melissa Gonzalez, Doral Academy, girls’ volleyball: Gonzalez totaled 27 assists, 12 digs and two kills to lead the Firebirds to a three-set win over St. Brendan.
▪ David Serra, Ransom Everglades, boys’ cross-country: Serra ran a time of 15:05.37 to win the Class 2A-1A race of the Spanish River Invitational.
▪ Daniela Hernandez, Carrollton, girls’ cross-country: Hernandez ran a time of 18:44 to win the Class 2A-1A race of the Spanish River Invitational.
