Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Dec. 11)
The winter sports season has kicked into high gear as it enters its second month with teams picking up early-season momentum and delivering outstanding performances.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Dec. 15, around 10 p.m.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Koree Cotton, Southridge, boys’ basketball: Cotton finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists to lead the Spartans to a 54-50 win over Miami Norland in a battle of two of Miami-Dade’s top teams.
▪ Sky Carrizo, Coral Gables, boys’ soccer: Carrizo scored four goals to lead the Cavaliers to an early-season win over Hialeah Gardens.
▪ Luciana Picasso, Lourdes, girls’ basketball: Picasso totaled 15 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks to lead the Bobcats to a 50-41 win over Miami Northwestern.
▪ Gabriel Gallego, Westwood Christian, boys’ basketball: Gallego totaled 30 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and 6 assists in a win over Downtown Doral and also had 12 points, seven assists, six steals and five rebounds in a win over Homestead.
▪ Adena Webster, Archbishop Carroll, girls’ basketball: Webster scored 51 points and finished with 14 rebounds, 15 steals and three assists in the Bulldogs win over Colonial Christian.
