Belen ekes by Braddock
Jose Llanes had 12 carries for 52 yards and two touchdowns, quarterback Angel Alvarez passed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, and the Belen Wolverines won a narrow district 15-8A contest 14-13 over the host Braddock Bulldogs on Monday evening, resuming a game that was delayed Thursday because of lightning.
The game resumed with 11:44 to play in the third quarter and Braddock up 13-7. Belen (4-1, 2-0) had the ball on the Bulldogs’ (0-4, 0-2) 10-yard line with a first and goal. After three short runs, a field goal was attempted and missed wide-right.
With eight minutes left in the game, a punt blocked by Joseph Garcia set-up the Wolverines just outside of the Braddock end zone.
Llanes scored on a 3-yard run to tie the game and kicker Jake Ramirez connected on the go-ahead point after.
