Devin Carter scores 32 points to power the Doral Academy high school basketball team
Fresh off of winning the Jim Clark Classic at Bishop Moore High School in Orlando over the holidays, the Doral Academy high school boys’ basketball team continued to build on that momentum with a big win on Tuesday night.
Hosting district rival Mater Academy, the Firebirds avenged an early season four point loss to the Lions by knocking off Mater 60-53 in the Doral gym.
As he seems to do each game, senior Devin Carter, who has multiple FBS offers — including South Carolina and Notre Dame, led the way for the Firebirds by pouring in 32 points — including three 3-pointers. Justin Johnson was the only other Doral player in double figures with 13 points.
Unlike last season where they put together a perfect regular season before falling to Dillard in the regional finals, Doral is 8-2 thus far having also lost an overtime contest to South Miami last month as well.
Malik Reneau led the way for Mater Academy (11-4) with 18 points and eight boards.
