TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Doral Academy’s boys’ swimming and diving team won the Youth Fair Invitational championship by edging defending state champion Belen Jesuit. Adriano Martinez, who also won the 100-yard backstroke (53.32) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.35), anchored the Firebirds’ team title-clinching 400-yard freestyle relay victory.
The Ransom Everglades’ girls’ swimming and diving team won its eighth consecutive Youth Fair Invitational title. Laine Morgan led the Raiders by winning the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Kato Nelson, Champagnat Catholic, football: Nelson completed 15 of 19 passes for 300 yards, threw three touchdown passes and ran for another touchdown to lead the Lions to a 36-0 win over Somerset Academy.
Dylan Dibello and Guillermo Bonet, Palmer Trinity, football: Dibello completed 12 of 15 passes for 277 yards and threw five touchdown passes, and Bonet caught nine passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Falcons to a 46-20 win against Everglades Prep.
Katerina Rey, Florida Christian, volleyball: Rey finished with 37 kills, 35 assists, 19 service points, nine aces and 19 digs in wins against Doral Academy, Coral Shores and Key West.
Alejandra Rodriguez, Divine Savior, volleyball: Rodriguez had 19 kills, 15 aces and 10 digs in a win against Westwood Christian.
Zuhayr Pigot, St. Brendan, boys’ swimming and diving: Pigot won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly at the Youth Fair Invitational.
Arianna Noya, Reagan, girls’ swimming and diving: Noya won the 100- and 200-freestyle events at the Youth Fair Invitational.
Nick Diaz, Sunset, boys’ cross-country: Diaz won the Spanish River Invitational 4A-3A race with a time of 15:51.
Alyssa Pujals, Gulliver, girls’ cross-country: Pujals won the Spanish River 2A-1A race with a time of 19:18.
Aylwyn Hernandez, Ferguson, girls’ cross-country: Hernandez won the Spanish River Invitational 4A-3A race in 19:52.
Tomas Nieves, Coral Gables, boys’ golf: Nieves shot a 39 in a meet against Miami Beach and Miami Springs.
Jorge Osinaga, Southwest, boys’ bowling: Osinaga bowled a 660 series to win the individual title at the Youth Fair Invitational.
Kelsey Buell, Ferguson, girls’ bowling: Buell bowled a 497 series to win the individual title at the Youth Fair Invitational. Her performance helped the Falcons also win the team title.
