Frank Ladson put the black jersey with yellow lettering on over his powder blue dress shirt and smiled.

A life-long dream of his has finally become reality.

Ladson, a top receiver at South Dade and the fourth-ranked prospect in the state of Florida according to the 247Sports Composite, was recognized as an All-American during a Wednesday morning pep rally at his school.

“This is really exciting,” Ladson, a Clemson Tigers commit, said. “I’ve been watching this game for years. I know players like Odell Beckham played in this game. It’s a real big moment for me and my family.”

The All-American Bowl will take place on Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Ladson has more pressing matters to deal with first, starting Friday night with a Region 4-8A playoff semifinal against Southridge. It’s a rematch of their final district game from Oct. 26, one in which Southridge defeated South Dade 15-13 to clinch the District 16-8A title and homefield advantage in at least the first two rounds of the state playoffs.

“I want to go out with a real bang,” Ladson said. “I’m going to give it my all for the rest of the season. Every game is win or go home. I’m trying to make it to the state game.”
