Southwest volleyball continues strong start to 2018 season

Ten months after punching its ticket to the state final four, the Southwest girls’ volleyball team is eyeing another trip back and has its 2018 season out of the gates quickly.

That following Tuesday afternoon’s straight set, 25-5, 25-20, 25-11 victory over Coral Park that saw the Eagles move their record to 3-0.

Maria Rodriguez, a Herald third-team All County selection last year, led the way with nine kills, three blocks and two service aces. Mai-Lani Hernandez (11 kills, 5 blocks, 3 aces) and Denise Gonzalez (27 assists) also contributed to the Southwest victory.
