Central powers past Coral Reef in big first half

Forty unanswered first-half points propelled Central to victory over Coral Reef on Friday night at Harris Field. Central (3-1) is currently ranked No. 9 nationally by USA Today.

Running back Cedric Miller led Central with 78 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns.

“It was an impressive win,” Miller said. “This was a boost to our season. Now we know we can come out and put up points for the rest of our games.”

Anthony Jones scored the Rockets’ only points of the second half when he returned a Coral Reef kickoff 97 yards. Jones also had three receptions for 28 yards.

Quarterback Jerrod Thomas went 8-for-9 passing for 83 yards with two touchdowns.

Central will face Columbus (3-0) on Thursday at Traz Powell Stadium.
