North Miami Beach’s fast start sinks Hialeah Gardens

Twenty-eight first-quarter points helped the Chargers (4-5, 3-1 District 13-8A) to a rout of the Gladiators (0-8, 0-4 District 13-8A) on Thursday at North Miami Stadium.

Quarterback Cedric Wiggins accounted for three of the early scores. The first came on a 49-yard pass to Steve Ishmael and was followed by a 41-yard run by Wiggins. His third score came on a 14-yard pass to Immel Rai.

Wiggins finished the game with 131 passing yards and 51 rushing yards.

The Chargers are one game behind North Miami (6-1, 3-0) for first place in District 13-8A. North Miami gave the Chargers their lone district loss and can clinch the district championship with a win over Ronald Reagan on Saturday.
