TEAM OF THE WEEK
Red-hot junior guard Ta’Kyla Austin had a game-high 20 points, and Ashley Saintigene had 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds to lead the Northeast girls’ basketball team (19-7) over Miami Norland 65-48 in the Class 6A regional final, clinching the Hurricanes’ first berth to the state final four.

Alexander Gomez, North Broward, boys’ tennis: Gomez won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles to lead the Eagles over Masters Academy 6-1.
Buddy Hayward, University, baseball: Hayward threw five scoreless innings to lead the Sharks over Coral Shores 7-2.
Zach Scott, Westminster Academy, boys’ basketball: Scott had a game-high 20 points to lead the Lions over Benjamin 74-42 in the Class 3A Region quarterfinals.
Ayanna Armstead, Cardinal Gibbons, girls’ basketball: Armstead had eight points and eight rebounds to lead the Chiefs past Booker T. Washington 33-30 in the Class 4A regional final.
Ricardo Lynch, Boyd Anderson, boys’ basketball: Lynch had a game-high 18 points to lead the Cobras over Spanish River 72-52 in the Class 6A Regional quarterfinals.
Arturo Frietas, Cypress Bay, boys’ water polo: Frietas had three goals to lead the Lightning (2-0) over Fort Lauderdale 14-6.
Samantha Kelley, Douglas, softball: Kelley went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBI to lead the Eagles over Cypress Bay 5-2.
Leila Hathaway, Pines Charter, girls’ water polo: Hathaway scored six goals to lead the Jaguars over Pompano Beach 18-8.
Shante Walker, South Broward, girls’ basketball: Walker had 22 points and 12 rebounds to help the Bulldogs hold off Fort Lauderdale 59-51 in the Class 7A regional final.
Kayla Scaperrotta, Coral Springs Charter, softball: Scaperrotta went 3 for 3 with three runs and two RBI to lead the Panthers over Calvary Christian 15-0.
