St. Thomas Aquinas clobbers Fort Lauderdale 41-13

Aquinas (6-1, 1-0 in 14-7A) started slowly but pulled away from the Flying L’s (2-6, 0-1) in the second in a bounce-back 41-13 win after being upset by Deerfield Beach 6-3 last week.

The Raiders, who all but assured their place in the state playoffs with the win Friday, had been ranked as high as third nationally before the loss.

TOP TWO

Beau Fillichio: The sophomore made his first start and passed for 123 yards with three touchdowns.

James Charles: Rushed for 56 yards and two touchdowns.

THEY SAID IT

“It was shaky at first, but as the game kept rolling I ... felt great.”

— Fillichio
