Blanche Ely’s season ends at home to Atlantic
Delray Beach Atlantic (9-2, 6-1) will play district rival Royal Palm Beach in the regional semifinals after defeating host Blanche Ely (6-5, 3-0), 21-13, in a Region 4-7A quarterfinal matchup on Friday night.
Atlantic overcame 19 penalties for 209 yards to pull off the road victory that came down to the final minute.
Ely junior quarterback Teddrick Moffett connected with senior receiver Ladderick Smith on a 22-yard touchdown pass with 2:14 remaining to cut Atlantic’s lead to 21-13, but the Eagles held on for the win.
Moffet scored on a 9-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter, but Davan Cleckley returned the ensuing kickoff 88 yards to put the Eagles up two touchdowns.
