Cardinal Gibbons tops Everglades 19-6 after delay

A 45-minute lightning delay and a malfunctioning scoreboard did not prevent Cardinal Gibbons (1-1) from earning their first win of the season at Everglades (1-1).

The Chiefs first struck when senior quarterback Carmine Scarfone zipped the ball between two defenders, finding Marquis Wilson in the end zone from 20 yards out.

A fourth-quarter touchdown and an interception on the ensuing drive proved not enough for the Gators.

Top Two

Scarfone: Ran and passed for a touchdown; rushed for 70 yards on eight carries.

Javari Alvin: Passed for 59 yards and a touchdown for Everglades.

They Said It

“The key to winning games for us this year is taking care of the football, execution on office, and finishing off drives.”

Mike Morrill, Cardinal Gibbons coach.
