Junior Demelies showed no fear, daggering into a host of defenders and securing a 16-yard reception to set up Fort Lauderdale for a game-winning field goal with 19 seconds remaining in a 17-14 victory Friday at Boyd Anderson.
Lucas Moreira’s 15-yard kick sealed the victory for the Flying L’s (3-6, 2-1 14-7A).
“It was good,” Moreira said. “I was a little nervous. Then everybody went crazy. We’re going to the playoffs.”
The Cobras (0-8, 0-3) led 14-6 at halftime on Avery Thorton’s 99-yard interception return and a 25-yard Alonzo Clark run. Caleb Marko-Mathew had a touchdown toss to James Gardner in the second quarter for the Flying L’s.

The Flying L’s tied the game with a two-point conversion after a Marko-Mathew touchdown to Martell Robinson with 9:02 left.
“It has been an up and down season for us,” Flying L’s coach Richard Dunbar said. “These guys deserve every ounce of feeling that they have for everything that they’ve been through.”
