Miami Herald High School Athlete of the Week 1: Ferguson bowler Lexander Perdomo

Lexander Perdomo of the Ferguson boys’ bowling team is the Miami Herald Athlete of the Week for Week 1.

Perdomo, a junior, finished first in the poll with readers voting. A 2024 Miami Herald All-Dade first team bowler, he had the high series (625) and a high game (236) to lead the Falcons over Miami Gulliver Prep 7-0.

The nominees included: Alex Gonzalez, Miami LaSalle volleyball; Skye Williams, Miami Florida Christian volleyball; Dayleen Valdes, Miami True North volleyball; Ayden Jaouhar, Pompano Beach football; Noah Alce, Miami Ransom Everglades football; Marisa Mantecon, Miami Lourdes cross-country; Sebastian Eterovic, Miami Columbus golf; Marcelo Mantecon, Miami Belen cross-country; and Sohan Patel, Plantation American Heritage golf.

Nearly each week during the 2025-26 high school varsity sports season, the Miami Herald will establish nominees for a poll of top Broward and Miami-Dade high school athletes.

Potential nominees are also received by emailing hssports@miamiherald.com.

Deadline for voting in the poll is around 10 p.m. Thursdays.
