Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Sept. 24)
Broward County’s top athletes shined again this week with more stellar performances as the 2023-24 high school sports season completed its third week.
This week, we resume a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 28, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Cedrick Bailey, Chaminade-Madonna, football: Bailey completed 26 of 38 passes for 301 yards and threw four touchdown passes to lead the Lions to a 31-28 win over Miami Central.
▪ Ashley Fitzgerald, American Heritage, girls’ cross-country: Fitzgerald ran a time of 17:55.13 to win the Class 4A-3A race of the Spanish River Invitational.
▪ Anthony Barbar, Westminster Academy, football: Barbar completed 19 of 28 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns and one interception to lead the Lions to a 35-0 win over Pine Crest.
▪ Kavaughn Stewart, Piper, football: Stewart recorded two sacks and had five tackles including two for loss to lead the Bengals to a 28-20 win over McArthur.
