TEAM OF THE WEEK

The Coral Springs football team stormed back from a 21-13 deficit to defeat District 11-8A power South Plantation 34-28. Jake Bofshever exploded for four touchdown passes and a touchdown run as the Colts improved to 4-2, 2-1 on the season.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Danny Ferro, Calvary Christian, boys’ cross-country: Ferro won the Westminster Academy Invitational 1A/2A boys’ title in 17:31.

Raphael Marcoux, Tyler Zuyus, James Dika and Philippe Marcoux, Fort Lauderdale, boys’ swimming: Raphael Marcoux, Zuyus, Dika and Philippe Marcoux clocked a BCAA record 1:27.52 in the 200 freestyle relay.

Tsion Yared, Pine Crest, girls’ cross-country: Yared finished fourth in the FSU Pre-State Invitational in 18:13.

Natalya Wozab, Caitlin Ahern, Quinn Connor and Samantha Stinemire, St. Thomas Aquinas, girls’ swimming: Wozab, Ahern, Connor and Stinemire won the girls 200 medley relay in a BCAA record 1:49.63.

Katie Pinnell, North Broward Prep, girls’ cross-country: Pinnell won the Westminster Academy girls’ 1A/2A title in 20:47.

Zack Good, Pompano Beach, football: Good rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns as the Tornados defeated host Miami Country Day 28-10.

Gabrielle Sumkin, Cooper City, girls’ cross-country: The freshman standout claimed her first invitational victory by clocking 23:32 in the Westminster Academy 3A/4A girls’ race.

Priscila Ertty, Cypress Bay, girls’ volleyball: Ertty had 26 assists to lead the Lightning (21-0) past Western in three sets.

Deon McIntosh, Cardinal Gibbons, football: McIntosh caught a touchdown pass as the Chiefs held on to beat Coconut Creek 34-33.
