The 2022-23 high school sports season continues to feature stellar performances by top Broward County athletes.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 22, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
Davion Gause, Chaminade-Madonna, football: Gause ran for over 150 yards and three touchdowns to help the Lions defeat Plantation American Heritage 42-34 in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams.
A.J. Hairston, Monarch, football: Hairston completed 21 of 29 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns in a 64-42 win for the Monarchs over Piper.
Ashley Fitzgerald, American Heritage, girls’ cross-country: Fitzgerald won the Class 3A race of the Boca Raton Spanish River Invitational with a top overall time of 18:09.81, which led all runners regardless of classification.
Brett Moore, Archbishop McCarthy, boys’ golf: Moore shot a 4-under 68 to finish third at the Jenkins Invitational in Lakeland and lead the Mavericks to a runner-up finish.
Hunter Morgan, South Florida HEAT, boys’ cross-country: Morgan won the Class 1A race of the Spanish River Invitational with a time of 16:27.68.
