Ryan Stanley threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns to lead Flanagan (3-0) to a 42-0 win over Boyd Anderson (0-3).
Stanley was 14 of 22 passing. Before leaving the game in the third quarter, he also scored on a 16-yard run to lead the Falcons.
After throwing an interception on the first drive, Stanley, a three-year starter for Flanagan, was almost flawless. He hit wide receiver Robert Foy in stride for a 58-yard touchdown in the first quarter and the Falcons never looked back. Foy, who led the Falcons in receiving, caught five passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Miami commit Emonee Spence also had a touchdown for the Falcons.
“I had a lot of help [Friday night],” Stanley said. “We wanted to spread it around, and we were pretty good at doing that.” Seven different Flanagan receivers caught passes in the game.
Arkeem Granger ran the ball nine times for 47 yards and a score to pace the Falcons’ ground game. Gavin Whithan added 37 yards and a touchdown on the game’s final play for Flanagan.
The Cobras were led by freshman running back Novric Jackson, who rushed for 56 yards on 17 carries. Freshman quarterback Alonzo Clark had a rough night and was only 1 of 6 for 7 yards. He was also sacked three times. Boyd Anderson’s young offense has only scored six points in three games this season.
