Anthony Mulrine went 3 for 5 with two RBI, and Jawuan Harris went 2 for 4 with two RBI to help the St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team(14-2), ranked No. 24 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25, upset MaxPreps No. 5 College Station 11-6 in the National High School Invitational.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Phillip Lee, Boyd Anderson, boys’ track: Lee won the high jump (6-6) and long jump (22-2) to lead the Cobras to the Miramar Relays boys’ title.
Taylor Gagne, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ tennis: Gagne won at No.4 singles and No.2 doubles to lead the Chiefs over Archbishop McCarthy 4-3.
Simone Babb, North Broward Prep, girls’ tennis: Babb won at No.1 singles and No.1 doubles to lead the Eagles over Posnack School 6-1.
Julia Ramos, Pines Charter, softball: Ramos had the game-winning RBI in the top of the seventh inning that helped the Jaguars (16-1) rally for a 5-4 victory over Orange CIty University in the Kissimmee Klassic Tournament.
Gentry Fortuno, baseball: Fortuno struck out nine to pick up a 2-1 victory over St. Brendan in the HSBN Tournament.
Parker Strickman., St. Thomas Aquinas, boys’ water polo: Strickman had four goals to lead the Raiders (20-1) over archrival Cardinal Gibbons 14-7.
Bridgette Tuxbury, Chaminade, softball: Tuxbury threw a complete game two-hitter and struck out nine to pick up a 4-0 victory over Pine Crest.
Nyla Lindo, Pine Crest, girls’ track: Lindo won the high jump (5-4) at the FSU Relays.
Ty Espada-Murtha, Archbishop McCarthy, boys’ lacrosse: Espada-Murtha had three goals and three assists to lead the Mavericks (10-3) over American Heritage 9-8.
Evan McKendry, University School, baseball: The University of Miami commit had an RBI and allowed one hit and struck out six to beat Piper for the South Broward Spring Classic title.
