Coral Park finally gets its victory shower

Coral Park coach Ralph Jimenez got the Gatorade shower.

So did his assistants.

It was only a week 2 victory.

But for a Rams’ football team that’s been waiting two years to remember the feeling of winning a game, it was much sweeter.

Coral Park collectively ran for 277 yards and scored all five of its touchdowns rushing to secure a 34-12 road victory at Hialeah Gardens Friday afternoon.

The win snapped an 11-game losing streak for the Rams (1-1).

Marcus Ruiz led Coral Park with 129 yards on eight carries and a touchdown. Bryan Gonzalez scored two touchdowns, and Danilo Gonzalez and Isaac Joseph each scored one.

“I’m just really proud of these kids and that we came out on a positive note today,” said Jimenez, who is in his second season coaching his alma mater. “This team understands concepts [of football] now and their assignments better and what it takes to be successful.”
