Belen, Ferguson secure Youth Fair cross-country titles

Belen Jesuit cruised to victory on the boys’ side and Ferguson remained strong by winning the girls’ team title at the Youth Fair Invitational Thursday afternoon at Larry and Penny Thompson Park.

Neither team had the individual champion though.

Those honors went to Columbus and Southridge.

Columbus’ Deshay Fernandes ran a winning time of 16:45.90 to take home the boys’ crown. Ryah Andressohn, who transferred to Southridge from Mater Academy in the offseason, ran a time of 20:04 to secure the girls’ championship. Her former teammate Jinah Mickens-Malik finished second.

Belen secured the team title with 31 points as Joshua Collins placed second and Juan San Martin followed in third place. The Wolverines had all seven runners finish in the top 15.

Ferguson beat Lourdes by 30 points and was led by Jazmyn Martinez, who finished third. The Falcons placed three runners in the top 15.
