Columbus boys’ volleyball tops Coral Park

The Columbus boys’ volleyball team remained undefeated after a four-set 25-11, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Coral Park on Monday afternoon.

Eddie deArcos had four aces and 30 digs for the Explorers (7-0). Logan Plummer registered 15 kills, 10 digs and two blocks.

Alex Suarez had seven kills, two blocks and two digs.

The Killian boys’ volleyball team won the Gold championship of the SLAM Invitational. Jason Harris led the Cougars with clutch performances throughout the tournament.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Brian Perez, Doral, baseball: Perez went a combined 5 for 6 with a home run, three doubles and six RBI and on the mound picked up two saves and three strikeouts in two innings pitched to lead the Firebirds to wins over Coral Park, Hialeah and Dade Christian.

Jose Grana, Southwest, baseball: Grana pitched a shutout and struck out six as the Eagles beat Columbus 10-0.

Ally Mena, Westminster Christian, softball: Mena went 3 for 5 with two home runs and three RBI to lead the Warriors to a 9-7 win over Cooper City at the SlamFest.

Milton Ingraham, Dade Christian, boys’ track and field: Ingraham won the discus with a top throw of 150-02 at the Crusader Invitational.

Natalie Varela, Gulliver, girls’ track and field: Varela ran a time of 5:04.55 to win the 1,600 meters at the Crusader Invitational.

Matthew Fung, Palmetto, boys’ tennis: Fung won his No. 1 singles match to lead Palmetto to a win over Ransom.

Ansofi Wreder, Palmetto, girls’ tennis: Wreder won her No. 1 singles matches to lead the Panthers to wins over Lourdes and Ransom.

Carlos Clavijo, St. Brendan, boys’ lacrosse: Clavijo had 10 goals each in games against Westminster Christian and John Carroll Catholic.

Caio Jordao, Gulliver, boys’ water polo: Jordao had three goals and six steals to lead the Raiders to a 7-6 win over Orlando Boone.
