TEAM OF THE WEEK

The Reagan boys’ soccer team won its first GMAC championship, capping it with a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory over Ferguson. Andres Gonzalez scored two goals to lead the Bison to the comeback win, and also had two goals in a semifinal victory over Miami Beach.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Brent Holcombe, Coral Reef, boys’ basketball: Holcombe had 32 points and 11 rebounds in a 60-50 win over South Dade.

Karl Jeanty, Dr. Krop, boys’ basketball: Jeanty had 14 points and six rebounds to lead the Lightning to a win over Miami High.

Khadijah Brown, South Miami, girls’ basketball: Brown had 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Cobras to a district win over Coral Gables and had 39 points in a loss to Lourdes.

Daniela Barrios, Doral, girls’ basketball: Barrios scored 21 points and made five three-pointers to lead the Firebirds to a 65-51 win over Boca Raton Grandview Prep.

Holman Rios, Ferguson, boys’ soccer: Rios scored two goals to lead the Falcons to a 3-1 win over Edison in the GMAC semifinals.

Sofia Aviles, TERRA, girls’ soccer: Aviles scored a combined three goals in two matches to help the Wolves win the District 16-4A tournament.

Todd Perry, South Dade, wrestling: Perry scored a majority decision over favorite Southridge’s Marco Perez that was a pivotal part of the Bucs’ victory over Southridge during a tri-meet of the state’s best that also included Southwest.
