North All-Stars rout South

After leading two of the more prolific offenses in Broward County all season, it only figured that Deerfield Beach quarterback Teddrick Moffett and Coconut Creek signal-caller Jhakari Harrison might just go and close out their high school careers in style.

And that’s exactly what happened on Thursday night as the two enjoyed big nights and led the North All-Stars to a 46-6 rout of the South in the 19th Annual BCAA All-Star Classic at Nova High School.

Moffett completed 6 of 12 passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns. But it’s what he did with his feet that really did most of the damage as he rushed for 118 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns, including an 86-yarder on third-and-17 in the second quarter that helped stake his team to a 27-0 halftime lead.

When the game was over Moffett was the recipient of the Otis Gray Memorial Trophy as the game’s outstanding player.

Harrison, who threw for over 3,000 yards this season for Creek, didn’t take nearly as many snaps but still wound up completing 6 of 8 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

“It was my last game out there, and it was a great experience,” said Moffett who has not committed but has scheduled trips to Idaho, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.

Said Coconut Creek coach Kareem Reid, who coached the and North All-Stars: “Those two kids played a lot of football in their high school careers and obviously brought that experience out on the field [Thursday].”

Boyd Anderson wide receiver Basil Spencer was named the North’s Outstanding Offensive Player thanks to a pair of touchdown receptions, one from each quarterback, and Plantation defensive end Tyrik Jones was named the North’s Outstanding Defensive Player.

Cooper City defensive end Rashad Weaver was the South’s Outstanding Defensive Player, and Everglades running back Eric Pierre took home the offensive honors as he scored his team’s only touchdown, a 61-yard scoring pass from Western quarterback Tyler Monaco in the fourth quarter.
