TEAM OF THE WEEK
Utah commit Tyler Huntley shook off a hobbled ankle to throw the game-winning 18-yard touchdown pass to Juwan Hardy with 41 seconds left as the Hallandale football team (10-2) rallied past defending Class 5A state champion American Heritage 27-20 in the regional semifinal, securing the Chargers’ first trip to the regional final.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Precious Foster, Coral Glades, girls’ soccer: Foster had three goals to lead the Jaguars over Deerfield Beach 3-1.
Jaxson Kincaide, St. Thomas Aquinas, football: Kincaide rushed for 162 yards, including a scintillating 82-yard touchdown which gave the defending state champion Raiders (10-1) a 24-7 victory over Dwyer in the 7A Region semifinals.
Tyler Devaney, Western, boys’ soccer: Devaney scored the game-winning goal to lift the Wildcats over arch rival Flanagan 1-0.
Shae Pierce, Hollywood Christian, girls’ soccer: Pierce had a career-high 46 points to lead the Eagles over Sagemont 63-51.
Tomas Verbinskis, Sagemont, boys’ basketball: The 6-7 junior wing had a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lions over McArthur 89-54 in the Coaches vs. Cancer Showcase.
Elijah Kerr, Highlands Christian, boys’ soccer: Kerr had four goals to lead the Knights over Inlet Grove 5-3.
Mackenzie Crittenberg, Cardinal Gibbons, girls’ soccer: Crittenberg had three goals to lead the Chiefs (8-1) over Cypress Bay 4-0.
Devin Bush Jr., Flanagan, football: Bush’s 21-yard touchdown run in the second quarter held up as the Falcons defeated Deerfield Beach 17-0 in a Class 8A regional semifinals.
Brianna Lett, Zion Lutheran, girls’ basketball: Lett had a game-high 27 points to lead the Lions over Hollywood Christian 50-44.
