High school football playoff scenarios take shape

Here’s a look at the district standings and playoff status of every Miami-Dade and Broward football team competing in the FHSAA state series entering week 10:

FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SCENARIOS DISTRICT 11-8A

Piper (4-0, 8-0): Has clinched playoff berth; can clinch district title with win over Deerfield Beach.

Deerfield Beach (4-0, 7-1): Has clinched playoff berth; can clinch district title with win over Piper.

ELIMINATED: Douglas (2-2, 3-5), Monarch (1-3, 2-6), Taravella (1-3, 2-7), Coral Springs (0-4, 0-8).

DISTRICT 12-8A

Flanagan (5-1, 7-1): District champions.

Plantation (4-1, 7-2): District runner-up.

ELIMINATED: Miramar (3-2, 4-5), Cypress Bay (2-3, 3-5), Western (2-3, 4-4), Everglades (1-4, 2-6), South Plantation (1-4, 3-5).

DISTRICT 13-8A

American (4-0, 5-2): District champions.

Hialeah (3-1, 4-4): District runner-up.

ELIMINATED: Krop (2-2, 4-4), North Miami (2-2, 2-5), NMB (1-3, 2-6), Hialeah Gardens (0-4, 2-6).

DISTRICT 14-8A

Columbus (3-0, 9-0): Has clinched playoff berth; Can clinch district title with with win over Coral Gables.

Coral Gables (3-0, 7-0): Has clinched playoff berth; can clinch district title with win over Columbus.

ELIMINATED: Miami High (1-2, 5-3), Miami Beach (1-2, 2-5), Coral Park (0-4, 0-9).

DISTRICT 15-8A

Belen Jesuit (4-0, 5-3): Has clinched at least a spot in district tiebreaker; Can clinch district title with win over Coral Reef; IF they lose to Coral Reef, can still clinch playoff berth with Southwest loss to Braddock.

Southwest (3-1, 6-2): Can clinch playoff berth with Coral Reef loss to Belen; Can clinch at least a spot in district tiebreaker with win over Braddock and Coral Reef win over Belen.

Coral Reef (3-1, 3-5): Can clinch district title with win over Belen AND Southwest loss to Braddock; Can force a district title tiebreaker with win over Belen AND Braddock loss to Southwest; If they lose to Belen, they need a Southwest loss to Braddock to force a tiebreaker for runner-up playoff berth.

Braddock (2-2, 4-4): Needs win vs. Southwest AND Coral Reef loss to Belen to force tiebreaker for runner-up playoff berth.

ELIMINATED: Varela (0-4, 3-5), Ferguson (0-4, 0-8).

DISTRICT 16-8A

Southridge (3-1, 5-4): Can clinch district title with South Dade loss to Homestead; can clinch runner-up playoff berth with Killian loss to Palmetto next week; Has clinched at least a berth in playoff tiebreaker should Killian AND South Dade both win.

Killian (2-1, 4-3): Can clinch playoff berth with win vs. Palmetto AND South Dade loss to Homestead; Needs win vs. Palmetto if South Dade wins to force district championship tiebreaker.

South Dade (2-1, 6-1): Can clinch district title with win vs. Homestead and Killian loss to Palmetto; Needs win vs. Homestead IF Killian wins to avoid elimination and force tiebreaker for district championship.

Palmetto (1-2, 4-4): Needs win over Killian AND South Dade loss to Homestead to force tiebreaker for district runner-up playoff berth.

ELIMINATED: Homestead (0-3, 2-6).

DISTRICT 14-7A

St. Thomas Aquinas (1-0, 6-1): Can clinch district title with win over Blanche Ely; has clinched playoff berth.

Blanche Ely (1-0, 1-7): Can clinch district title with win over St. Thomas Aquinas; has clinched playoff berth.

ELIMINATED: Fort Lauderdale (0-2, 3-6).

DISTRICT 15-7A

West Broward (3-1, 6-2): Can clinch district title with win over Cooper City AND Nova loss to McArthur; Needs win to avoid elimination.

McArthur (3-1, 6-2): Can clinch district title with win over Nova and West Broward loss to Cooper City next week; Needs win to avoid elimination.

Cooper City (3-1, 4-4): Can clinch district title with win AND McArthur loss to Nova; Needs win to avoid elimination.

Nova (3-1, 4-4): Can clinch district title with win AND Cooper City loss to West Broward; Needs win to avoid elimination.

ELIMINATED: Hollywood Hills (0-4, 2-6), South Broward (0-4, 1-7).

DISTRICT 16-7A

Mater Academy (7-0, 7-0): Has clinched playoff berth; can clinch district title with win over Sunset.

Sunset (7-0, 7-1): Has clinched playoff berth; Can clinch district title with win over Mater Academy.

ELIMINATED: Reagan (5-2, 5-3), Miami Springs (4-3, 4-4), Doral (3-4, 4-4), Goleman (3-5, 3-6), South Miami (2-5, 2-6), Mourning (1-6, 1-7), Westland Hialeah (0-7, 0-8).

DISTRICT 15-6A

Boyd Anderson (2-0, 7-1): District champions.

Dillard (1-1, 5-3): Can clinch playoff berth with win vs. Boynton Beach.

Boynton Beach (1-1, 4-4): Can clinch playoff berth with win vs. Dillard.

ELIMINATED: Northeast (0-2, 1-7).

DISTRICT 16-6A

Central (3-1, 7-2): Has clinched playoff berth; Can clinch district title with Carol City loss to Northwestern.

Carol City (2-1, 6-2): Can clinch district title with win vs. Northwestern; Needs win to avoid elimination.

Northwestern (2-1, 4-4): Can clinch playoff berth with win vs. Carol City; Can’t clinch district title and needs win to avoid elimination.

ELIMINATED: Norland (1-2, 3-4), HML (0-3, 4-4).

DISTRICT 16-5A

American Heritage (4-0, 7-1): Has clinched playoff berth; Can clinch district title with win over Hallandale.

Hallandale (4-0, 7-1): Has clinched playoff berth; Can clinch district title with win over American Heritage.

ELIMINATED: Coconut Creek (2-2, 5-3), Cardinal Gibbons (1-3, 3-5), Jackson (1-3, 2-5), Stranahan (0-4, 3-5).

DISTRICT 7-4A

Glades Central (2-0, 6-2): Can clinch district title with win vs. Clewiston; A loss to Clewiston means three-way tiebreaker including University School.

University School (2-1, 5-3): Can clinch playoff berth with Clewiston loss to Glades Central OR can clinch district title tiebreaker with Clewiston win over Glades Central.

Clewiston (1-1, 4-4): Needs win over Glades Central to force tiebreaker for district championship.

ELIMINATED: Somerset Academy (0-3, 0-8).

DISTRICT 8-4A

Booker T. Washington (3-0, 4-5): District champions.

Gulliver (3-1, 4-4): District runner-up.

ELIMINATED: Monsignor Pace (1-2, 1-7), Edison (1-2, 5-3), Keys Gate (0-3, 2-5).

DISTRICT 8-3A

Westminster Christian (3-0, 7-1): District champions.

Chaminade-Madonna (2-1, 6-1): District runner-up.

ELIMINATED: Somerset Charter (0-2, 6-2), Everglades Prep (0-2, 4-4).

DISTRICT 8-2A

Dade Christian (2-0, 7-1): Has clinched playoff berth; Can clinch district title with win against Glades Day.

Glades Day (1-1, 3-5): Can clinch district title with win vs. Dade Christian; A loss means three-way tiebreaker for runner-up playoff berth.

Village Academy (1-2, 3-4): Needs Dade Christian to beat Glades Day to clinch a spot in a tiebreaker for the district runner-up playoff berth.

Champagnat (1-2, 2-6): Needs Dade Christian to beat Glades Day to clinch a spot in a tiebreaker for the district runner-up playoff berth.
