Marcos Sanchez of the True North boys’ volleyball team is the Miami Herald Athlete of the Week for Week 33.
The sophomore had a match-high 29 kills with 7 blocks and 10 digs as the Titans won their first FHSAA Class 1A state title by beating Tampa SLAM in a 5-set thriller 25-22, 25-19, 26-28, 36-38, 15-12 at Polk State College in Winter Haven.
Other nominees were: Lucas Riva, Columbus boys’ volleyball; Torri Cotman, Edison flag football; Gio Gurgel, Coral Springs Charter softball; Julian Diaz, St. Thomas Aquinas baseball; Gio Rojas, Stoneman Douglas baseball.
