Miami Herald High School Athlete of the Week 32: Giordan del Riesgo of Belen volleyball

Giordan del Riesgo of the Belen Jesuit boys’ volleyball team is the Miami Herald Athlete of the Week for Week 32.

The junior had 25 assists, 5 digs and 3 aces as the Wolverines won the Region 4-2A title by beating Varela 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19. He had 24 assists, 2 kills, 2 aces, and 7 digs in a 5-set region semifinal win over Pembroke Pines Charter.

Other nominees were: Nick Castillo, Archbishop McCarthy boys’ volleyball; Raymond Hawkins, Flanagan track & field; Courtney Wahlbrink, Coral Springs Charter softball; Cash Remington, Cardinal Gibbons boys’ volleyball; Gianluca Padilla, Columbus track & field; Olivia Higgins, Coral Springs track & field; Esaul Pena, Miami Springs baseball; and Analys Uriarte, Schoolhouse Prep softball.
